Call to Worship ~ Psalm 30:4-5; Revelation 21:4

Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favour is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning…“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Prayer of Invocation (FP, p. 99)

Almighty God, to whom our hearts are open, our desires are known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the gracious power of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You and worthily magnify Your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Grant us your grace and peace in Christ by your Holy Spirit. For it is in Jesus’ name that we pray, Amen.

Song of Praise ~ Psalm 30 “O LORD, I Will Extol You” (guitar accompaniment)

The Apostles’ Creed (TPH, p. 851; FP, p. 148)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Song of Preparation ~ Psalm 23A “The LORD’s My Shepherd” (guitar accompaniment)

Prayer of Illumination (FP, p. 105)

Almighty and everlasting God, our heavenly Father, we acknowledge that we are sinners, conceived and born in sin, unable of ourselves to do any good. But we do repent of our sins, and seek Your grace to help us in our remaining weaknesses. Through the teaching of Your Word, which we confess with the church throughout the ages, satisfy our hunger and quench our thirst with Your refreshing truth, that we, with all our hearts, may love and serve You, with our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, the one and only true God, who lives and reigns forever. Amen.

Almighty God, our merciful heavenly Father, you are the God of peace who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant. Equip us with everything good that we may do Your will, working in us that which is pleasing in Your sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever…May your grace be with all of us in Christ. Amen.

Song of Praise ~ #335 “Praise the Savior Now and Ever” (guitar accompaniment)
