Pre-service singing ~ Psalm 68B “O Lord, Thou Hast Ascended” (accompaniment)
*Call to Worship ~ Psalm 96:7-9
Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength! Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!
*Prayer of Invocation
Our Gracious Heavenly Father, we ascribe to you glory and strength! We ascribe to you the glory due your name. Help us now to bring an offering into your courts, a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, through the mediation of our Great High Priest at your right hand, our Lord Jesus Christ, who ever lives to intercede for us. It is only because we are washed in His blood and clothed in His righteousness through faith, that we now enter into your holy presence and worship you in the splendor of holiness. Help us to bow before you with reverence and with awe. Help us to stand before you with confidence and assurance in Christ. Help us to sing with Spirit-filled joy and thanksgiving and give us a foretaste of the glories of the age to come. For it is in Christ name that we pray, Amen.
*God’s Greetings ~ Psalm 124:8; 1 Timothy 1:2
Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth…
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
*Song of Praise ~ Psalm 29B “Now unto Jehovah, Ye Sons of the Mighty” (guitar accompaniment)
Reading of God’s Law ~ Romans 12:9-21 (p. 948 in ESV Bible)
Prayer of Confession (FP p. 101)
Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from Your ways like lost sheep, we have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts, we have offended against Your holy laws, we have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done, and so we are helpless without You. O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders, spare us, as we confess our faults, restore us, as we are penitent, according to Your promises declared to us in Christ Jesus our Lord, and grant, O most merciful Father, for His sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and devout life, to the glory of Your holy name. Amen (moment of silence followed by a prayer by the minister).
*Declaration of Pardon ~ Romans 8:31-35, 37
If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?…No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
*Song of Thanksgiving ~ #227 “How Great Thou Art” (guitar accompaniment)
Congregational Prayer followed by The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
